My parents are taking me to a shelter, I don’t understand why they would want to abandon me

Gemi’s heart pounded with fear and confusion as he sat in the backseat of the car. He didn’t understand why his beloved humans, the ones who showered him with love and belly rubs, were taking him to this strange, unfamiliar place. The car ride was a blur, his mind racing with questions. Had he done something wrong? Was he no longer loved?

As they pulled into the parking lot, Gemi’s anxiety grew. The tall, imposing building looked cold and uninviting. He clung to his human’s leg, his tail tucked between his legs. They walked through the heavy doors, and Gemi’s heart sank. The noise, the smell, and the sight of so many unfamiliar dogs filled him with dread.

His humans gently placed him in a small kennel, their faces etched with sadness. Gemi whimpered, his eyes pleading for understanding. He didn’t want to be here. He wanted to go home, to his cozy bed, his favorite toys, and the warm embrace of his family.

As the door to the kennel closed, Gemi felt a wave of loneliness wash over him. He was alone, scared, and utterly heartbroken. He didn’t understand why his family had abandoned him, and he longed for their love more than anything.
